Don't Forget the Tour-and AUTOGRAPHED COPIES
Dave Barry and I leave Sunday for...
THE TOUR
I hope to see some of you while on the road. But don't forget, you don't have to show up to get...
AUTOGRAPHED COPIES of any Ridley book, or any of the Starctachers books. You can email or call any of the stores on the upcoming tour, and they'll hold new books for you--and we'll personalize them; or send your books to the store with return postage, and we'll sign them for you.

We will be waiting happily at The Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale!!
Last time you had pirate hats. What *special* gear are you planning for this time?
THANKS, Ridley! Nice offer for those of us who won't see you on tour. Cheers to you both!
Have fun, guys! (not fungi)
For some photos of Grand Marshall Ridley, go to Parade Time thread here.
I will be posting photos of the Great Forest Park Balloon Race later today, so you may need to scroll down to get to the parade thread.
Sly, you can always link directly to the parade post.
They're great photos!
YAY Ridley for starting a blog!
Happy Travels!
I'm bringing an Ombra robe and a HUGE moustache...
Ridley
Ridley, I'm assuming the Ombra robe you'll be wearing is the same brown robe you wore in illustrious Naperville, IL, among other strumpeting stops.
I've linked a picture.
I'll miss you this time, I hate driving into LA proper. Catch up with you soon, though.
Enjoying the blog!
Sarah:
That's the ROBE!!! Wearing it every night... (during the signings, that is)

Ridley, I had planned on seeing you in L.A., but I got tied up at the office and couldn't make it. Please accept my humble apologies. I hope to see you next time around.
bb:
you're banned from the blog forever for missing our LA appearance, which was one of the WORST of the tour...
R (ie: you missed NOTHING)
Ridley, PLEASE let me back in to play!
(BTW next time skip L.A. and come straight to Ventura, hometown of Erle Stanley Gardner. You'll get a great turnout, and I'll even grovel and beg forgiveness in person.)
BTW, now I REALLY feel bad that I couldn't make it. (Can I come back in?)
(Originally posted to "Wild Ride" by mistake yesterday)
Well, are *we* ever disappointed! My 18-yr-old son Alec and I were SO looking forward to getting to see you and Dave Barry again at The Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale. Unfortunately, Alec, who takes chemotherapy for leukemia (currently on maintenance chemo and we are coming up on his third diagnosis *survival* anniversary! Yay) hit the low point of the cycle with the side effects and got a respiratory infection at the same time. Blerk. I probably could have come by myself, but it didn't seem fair, since he had been really looking forward to seeing you guys as much as I.
Have a great rest of the tour!
Next time...
Dear Hornedhopper- Hope your son is doing better. I just had to post to say my youngest son (15yrs) is named Alec! It's not a very common name. Oddly enough my husband is a Pediatric Oncologist, which I'm sure you have too much familiarity with. Bravo to your Alec on his upcoming anniversary!
HornedHopper, drop me an email on:
email@ridleypearson.com
and we'll see if we can't get him a signed copy.

Hi, Pam!
Thank you for your wishes!
I read your post by chance when I went back to the original blogpost. I do hope that you are reading this. With some other e-forums, when someone responds to a particular post of mine, the response shows up in my email inbox. Maybe Prime Crime has that capability, also, but I can't seem to see it. Oh, well, I will answer you on the *assumption* that somehow notice will get to you that I am responding!!
Yes, Alec is an uncommon name. Is your Alec named after the Walter Farley character from The Black Stallion series, as well? His full name is Alexander, but he's been "Alec" since before he was born!
God bless all pediatric oncologists! Your husband is one of a very special breed. Phoenix Children's Hospital is our facility, and we are so lucky to have it. And yes, the field is one in which I had to study my own crash course to be part of the team.
Alec was delighted with your congratulations for his anniversary :)

10/12 Hey Hornedhopper- Just saw your post. This messageboard is easy to get lost in. some of us have been posting in the Aug. archives under "just talk" until we get some new areas we've requested. My Alec is just Alec. He's been spelling his name to teachers etc. since he was 3! ("no,not Alex, Alec!") We chose it because it was one of the few names we agreed on! I hope you guys got your autographed book from Ridley. He was just here in Texas but my Husband was on call and we try to have at least one parent available, so I couldn't justify driving 3 1/2 hrs one way to see one of my favorite authors. Oh well, maybe next time.
