HOB"s Rome ended last night. I was heartbroken. Fantastic show and now I am wondering what HBO is going to come up with next. The Sopranos are almost done, Deadwood is gone and now Rome. However, they never disappoint so I am actually anticipating something pretty good. I started watching that show Entourage and that is really funny. However, my favorite show appears on Friday nights at 10 on the E channel. It is called The Soup. They pretty much make fun of just about everything on TV for that week. The writing is fantastic. It can be pretty rough at times but I guess thats why they do not air it until 10.
Dean- I love The Soup-very funny. The original was Talk Soup, remember that? We are not in love with anything on TV right now, except maybe New Christine, which is very funny. I do watch Lost, but am totally confused (Lost?) We tape Friday Night Lights but once again it's hard to find the time to actually sit down and watch it. Every time we subscribe to HBO, we end up canceling it 'cuz we never find the time to watch! Sounds like we need to try it again.
Hey Ridley, I wont say anything about the last couple of Episodes of Rome because I do not want to be a spoiler. However, I wish that HBO would do a new series just about the life of Titus Pullo. He is such a cool character. They could even do it as a Sitcom it and would still be great.
Take Care Dean
Hey Pam, your right about that show. I remember when it was called Talk Soup. funny funny stuff.
OK Dean- I know you said you watch Dirt with Courtney Cox, So... Are you gonna watch tonight for the Courtney/Jennifer kiss? I don't see how they could keep from laughing! The whole thing is so cliche'!
I forgot (what does that say about me?) That I also watch Grey's Anatomy. My husband and I laugh at the medical stuff, (trust me, you would not be very articulate after 1 1/2 hrs of CPR ) But the sex stuff is all true! People do have sex in the on call room, they just don't all look like McDreamy or McSteamy!
We saw "Lives of Others" several weeks ago and thought it was wonderful. Really great on so many levels. The Stasi guy's tranformation was so moving to watch, even though he had so little dialogue. Great acting. Also loved "Pans Labyrinth", that one made me cry.
Did you ever see Kieslowki's "Three Colors"? Three different films, Red, White and Blue, with overlapping stories. I think my favorite was "Red". Worth renting if you ever had the time.
Hey Ridley, I have not heard anything about him. I'd never even seen him before. That is what amazes me most about HBO. It's there ability to cast these people so perfectly. We also liked young Octavio. The kid who plays Turtle on entourage is another well casted actor. Hard to beleive I'd never seen him in anything else. Hey Pam, As far as Dirt goes that show had its moments. The actor who played the Photographer (Don) was unbeleivable. The way they shot his scenes made you feel like you were schizophrenic like him. I am ashamed to say I missed the Kiss last night. the dog could not wait any longer and had to go out for his final time of the night.
Hey Guys, I'm trapped on a confrence call listening to a bunch of nonsense and I realized I left off two of my favorite shows. HBO's Extras ended after 2 seasons. I was heartbroken over that one too. That show was really really funny. He is the same guy who wrote the show "The Office" and starred on it. I love really funny stuff. Finally "The Sheild" starts next week. That is another great great show. Although one of my salesreps just gave me the MLB package for the season so I will be watching a ton of baseball
Hey Ridley My Wife told me that the other night although I am always accused of not really listening so perhaps I only heard half the story. I checked online and cannot find any information about it ending. If you ever go on YOU Tube (not sure if thats how it is spelled) there is a skit that Andy did for a comic relief show. It is the funniest 9 mins of comedy I have ever seen. I loved the movie Friday Night Lights. I thought Tim mcgraw was great. I have not seen the show however. Now here is my big question. I do not know if anyone follows the Sopranos but I guess they had a premiere in NYC the other night and they got to see the first 2 episodes. Supposedly a main character gets Whacked (or as they like to say goes into Witness Protections) and I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on who it could be. I say either Christopher (because he is on drugs again) or Paulie because he was slow to kick up to Tony while he was in the hospital.
I don't follow the Sopranos, but I would love to hear that Rome will enter another season. The storyline didn't feel that way, but you never know! Ridley
Hey guys. Just got this topic. Dean, if you want a good show to replace Rome watch The Tudors on HBO. I think it is only 6 episodes long, but really good. Loved the Extras, sorry it is gone. It was fun seeing famous actors make fun of themselves. Ever watched 'Black Adder' on BBC? It stars Hugh Laurie from 'House' (a personal fave of mine). Black Adder has two seasons that I know of. We kind of get it hit and miss. One season takes place during WWI and the other in the 18th century. Hope, I have all of Planet Earth TiVoed, hope to get to it soon. Was really blown away by the photography in the trailer I saw at the theater before it started. Any of you guys watch Dexter on HBO? They did a great job translating book to movie and I'm looking forward to next season. The Kiss on Dirt? Got it Tivoed to watch. I agree with you Ridley, the show is a bit odd, I keep trying to figure out if it is the show itself or if I keep expecting Courtney to turn into Monique (?) from Friends. Dean, if you like the story of Rome, try renting 'I,Claudius'. Was a PBS series in the 80's. Terrific, I was glued to the TV for every episode. Got some great actors, like John Hurd, in it. I don't watch much TV, but my favorites are House, 24, Boston Legal (Shatner and Spader are a riot), Bones. Never watch reality TV, so that cuts down available shows to almost nothing.

We love ROME! We have 2 episodes left on the Tivo, and we're sad to see it go!

He is a stud. Our favorite character. I read somewhere that he'll be in a feature film soon. Have you heard that? He's a STAR.
Now I'm waiting for "Athens"

We've got Dirt Tivoed, but the first few episodes were... odd. Haven't caught up in weeks. "The kiss?" hadn't heard.

Saw "Live of Others"
Wow! what a powerful film.

Extras is amazing. Are you sure it "ended?" As in: no more seasons. That would be a shame. Ricky G. is one great actor.
I, too, think Don in Dirt is terrific. Those scenes make you feel like YOU are coming apart.
Has anyone tried Friday Nigh Lights? One of my favorite shows this year. That and Studio 60 (and Rome) are about the only shows I watch regularly.

Is anyone tuning in to Planet Earth, Sunday nights, on Discovery Channel? Extraordinary series!
Hope:I Tivoed it. Haven't gotten to it yet. I saw a few minutes (HD) and WOW, is it gorgeous!
Ridley
No more Extras series I am afraid. Theres going to be a one off hour long special to tie it up.

Tudors is stunning. Well acted, well-written, and good and sexy.
Ridley
Dear Ridley,
When are you going to do something in television with that visionary Paul Guyot?
