KINGDOM KEEPERS 2 - Finished!
I am happy to report that Kingdom Keepers 2 has been printed as page proofs, and I've copyedited them, and it's into production at Disney Books. Here we go!!!
I'm told the first copies of Steel Trapp should arrive on my doorstep any day. It will be published in April -- a crime novel for younger readers.
Also, Dave Barry and I are within days of finishing Science Fair, for publication next January.

i'm very excited about the 2nd kingdom keepers. i was just married at epcot and honeymooned at disneyworld so disney is a big part of our life. can't wait to read what happens next. also intrigued by broadway disney concept as i've been acting since 11.
Congratulations Ridley on finishing KK 2. I'm hesitant about letting the kids know you're done because they'll torment me with the endless questions like
When is it coming out? I can tell them in August till i'm blue in the face, but the next day at practice Any news on KK 2? It's a true testament of a great book that you've written when kids are willing to drown their own swim coach to get any kind of information about KK 2.

I'm not much of a reader but I finished the first book in three hours. I hope that this book will be as good as the first, but I'm sure it will. I am so close to ordering the book without telling my parents, but I'm not that crazy... I am actually going to Disney Land in a few weeks.

I had another question that came to mind recently, I know that both Amanda and Jez/Jess aren't DHI's but if they were, would their "powers" be of any use when crossed over, or would the fact that they are made of light be a factor? I guess it might just come down to how your percive it with your mind, like Finn and Philby floating through water.

I'm always changing my mind on a cast.
I've had my mind set on my cast since I first read this book so I'm pretty darn sure that it's the perfect cast....um yea...Sry to be mean but this is a cast of very professional actors and actresses who have futures ahead of them!!!
BTW some of them (like me) attend a performing arts academy...as in it is our school....we all perform at a professional theatre...most of us have agents....so once again i really think i know what im talking about

I am obsessed with Kingdom Keepers, too! I went to a model search a few months back and Warner Bros. was there and said I had great model and actress potential! I recently has to buy a new KK book due to the fact that my first copy was torn, the cover paint was scratching off, many of the pages ripped, and half the book is curling.

Anyways, your work has opened a new window for me. I'd love to audition, though would have a better chance to auditioning for Peter and the Starcatchers movies ( if it becomes a movie ) because I'm a littler younger than the people in the book. My twin 12 year old daughters are so captivated by your books. I can't thank you enough for the magic that you have created in our home. They discovered Kingdom Keepers along time ago and have gotten their entire Middle School in Fort Lauderdale reading it. The library can't keep it in stock and it is the most requested Reading Counts book these past two years. VMK also runs in the households on the weekends and they will be so sad when it closes.
I guess one of the reasons that the girls were so captivated by the story are their names, my Allison is blond and her twin is Jillian is darker. They are huge Star War freaks as well so much so I wrangled a private tour of SkyWalker Ranch for my computer geeky kids to emerse themselves in. The biggest thrill would be for them to be cast in your world.

It's about time another Kingdom Keepers is in the works!!!! I've read the first one three times already!!! It's the BEST book I've ever read!!!! I love anything to do with Disney World and I've always wanted to know what happened after dark. I hope the characters stay the same. I really liked Wayne and Flinn. The ending of the first book left me guessing. I can't wait!!!! When does it plan to publish? I want to get it before I leave for Disney World next year.

What are the chances of KK becoming a Graphic novel? In my opinion Gaphic novels are prime to hit the younger reader market. Plus I can't think of a better book to get the Graphic novel treatment.

Some people have mentioned that in KK1 Jez's name is spelled Jess and in KK2 is spelled Jez. In my copy of KK1, it's spelled Jez. Is her name different in different copies?

to the last anonymous: I think what they mean is it's spelled "Jez" until Maleficent's spell is broken and then it's spelled "Jess" (toward the end of the book) and in KK2 (although not in Maleficent's spell) her name is spelled Jez again. hope that helps :)
omg Mr.Ridley i have a pretty good idea for KK3 if you are making one. just need a title.... lol and people are right you HAVE to make a movie it would be awesome. i'm really excited for kk2 and for next ones that might be comming. cant wait, bye!!

Kingdom Keepers 3
CHAPTER 1
It all starts with a star...
Finn sat down in his bed and red the clock. " Ten o'clock pm. " He thought to himself. He just couldn't fall asleep. He looked up at the stars and thought that with everything that has happened in the past with the DHIs, what could happen next? He looked at the majestic stars up at the sky. One star inpaticular had a surrten spark. Could it really be happening? It started glowing green and getting bigger. It reminded him of Malisafent, the greatest evil witch known in all of disney. It was Febuary 8th and school was closed because there was an accident as the school and was closed for investigations. As Finn watched the star got bigger and bigger and then... BOOM! Something in the light blinded him and made him fall asleep. He ended up in the Magic Kingdom along with Wayne, Charlene, Willa, Maybeck and Philby sitting on a bench in town square waiting. Charlene and Willa ran up to Finn and hugged him as if haven't seen him for a long time. Wayne,Maybeck, and Philby shook his hand and looked reliefed.
" Where've you been man!? " asked Maybeck frantically.
" We thought the overtakers got you!! " yelled Charlene right after.
" how long has it been...?? " Asked Finn rubbing his head curiosly.
As the others looked confused Willa said, " You've been gone for almost four months now. You said you were sick of being a DHI after Jess was missing. Then you fell and hit your head. Don't you remeber?? "
Finn thought and thought but just couldn't remember. He couldn't remember the last time he was in the magic kingdom. How was that even possible? Everytime the DHIs fell asleep they crossed over to the Disney parks.
" Well back to more important matters, " said wayne standing up.
" the Overtakers, as your should remeber, the villans, are trying once more to take over. But this time at a new level. They're trying to take over Epcot. "
The others looked worried. They knew tht this would be the most dangeorus of all because the holograms could not form in Epcot yet. As Wayne continued, the others listened carefully.
" The Overtakers will start in Spaceship Earth, it's not easy for them to hide in there because of the hot tempature in places, and because there leader, Malicifent, has green skin and is better in coldness, they might have to go in without her. Now, as you all know, you will not be able to go in Epcot as DHIs, but you can go as full humans. " Wayne stopped with a sudden breath. The others watched as they knew there friend was getting sick. Just then, the same star appeared again. Finn said he will be leaving and said good bye to the others. They were confused but said bye when Finn said he will be back.
Finn awoke in his bed, his feet muddy because he landed in a wet puddle of mud. Somehow, he was still used to crossing over even though he hasn't done it in a while. He was still rubbing his head with pain.The green light must have caused a reaction. He stood up and walked down to the kitchen to get a drink. He screamed when he saw his mom sitting down drinking coffee. At first he thought it might have been Malicifent because his mom had a green face mask on.
" What are you so jumpy about? And why are your feet all muddy?" Asked Mrs.Whitman.
" Nothing just had a nightmare, and my feet are muddy from my old boots, I fell in mud earlier. " replied Finn with a stutter.
" Well you better get back to bed Finn Whitman. And don't let me catch you sneeking out. " Said Mrs.Whitman firmly.
All Finn said was, " Yes ma'am. " and went back to bed.
What happened after him and the DHIs found Jess?? Finn had this same thought until he fell asleep. But for some strange reason... he wcouldn't cross over to the Disney park.
As Finn woke up the next morning he decided to check on VMK. As he was on his friend list the only person he saw was Angel_Face13 which was Charlene. Finn debated on if he should enter the same room as her. The answer was yes, and he went to a stage room where almost everything was pink, purple, and blue. It was for sure Charlenes room.
" Hey Charlene. " typed Finn. His bubble appeared red as he waited for Charlene to answer.
" Hey Finn. Whats up? Did you ever fall back asleep last night? We were all waiting for you. " Charlene replied quickly.
" Yea i did, but i didn't cross over. I wanted to but i couldn't. Like something - or someone was holding me back. " Finn said with shocking even himself.
" We better meet up at Magic kingdom now and find Wayne. He should know what to do. " Charlene said shocking Finn. Finn expected something like that from Willa.
" Good Idea. " Is all that Finn had said.
" Meet me and the others in the castle at 3:00pm sharp.
" Ok. " said Finn and signed off.
Finn changed into long pants, T-shirt, Hat and sunglasses as a disguise and told him mom he was going to Magic kingdom with the other DHIs. When Finn was out the door he saw Amanda and Jess down the street. Amanda and Jess ran down to Finn and he told them he was going to Magic kingdom and Amanda and Jess said they wanted to go and off they all went.
It was 2:45pm now. He only had 15 minutes to find the DHIs at the castle. As he saw them, at exactly 3:00pm, they met up with Wayne at Mickeys Philar Magic 3D show.
" Now Finn, tell me what happened last night. " Said Wayne concerned.
" Well i was laying in bed before i crossed over. I looked and saw the clock said it was ten o'clock. I was watching the stars then out of no where i saw a star with a green light get bigger and bigger then it sort of blew up i guess. And then thats how i crossed over. "
Wayne said nothing only looked worried. He saw Amanda and Jess, shook there hands and said, " Nice to see you two again. "
" Wayne what is going on? " asked Finn impatiently.
" Terrible things. Verry terrible. " Said Wayne not verry discriptive.
" We sort of got that part. But WHAT terrible things are happening? Is Jess going to go evil again? " Said Maybeck, not so trustworthy of Jess.
" HEY! I am not evil! " yelled Jess.
" Thats enough you two, " said Wayne breaking up the fight.
" the Overtakers, as i told you last night are trying to get into Epcot. But they cannot find a way yet. But they will. If they can get into Animal Kingdom and hack into the computers, they can get in Epcot, not easily, but they can and they will. "
Everyone fell silent. They new that Epcot had alot of places to hide. And alot of computers to hack. Finn said that he had to be home by seven o'clock tonight and that he wanted to walk around and go on rides, now that the rides won't come alive, at least he hoped. Wayne said that the DHI's should take the monorail to Epcot and explore there so they used to the place and know good hiding spots for when and if they cross over. The others all agreed and decided to split into pairs incase they see the Overtakers is disguise and split up. Jess with Philby, Maybeck with Charlene, and Amanda and Willa with Finn.They headed to the Monorail and all sat in the same section by themselves.
They were half way to Epcot when suddenly, the monorail stopped. The seven kids started to get worried because they wouldn't be able to split up if it was the Overtakers. It started to get cold, a sign they learned to know, Malicifent was near. Everyone looked at each other.
Just then, they saw her, green skin, black dress, everything, it was Malicifent. Malicifent opened the monorail door and stepped in.
" No hiding this time! " said Malicifent evily.
" We don't have to hide! " said Amanda and Jess.
Amanda and Jess held hands and said something nobody understood and Malicifent went flying out of the monorail and then they were on there way to Epcot once again.
" That was close. And too easy to get away. Somethings up. We better hurry when we get to Epcot " declared Amanda.
ok.. so, i've read both books, and i've enjoyed them emensely. I heard that auditions for the kk movie were in sep of '08, and i was just wondering if that was true.. I wanted to audition for Finn, even though i'm a little older than he is, and i just wanted to be sure it wasn't too late to audition..

Panda no offence but it was crap oh and btw finn likes amanda not jess none that would have ever hapened. I just finished the second book and it will be in Epcot true but will probally based in Hollywood Studios(MGM) oh and wayne was still missing so he can't alrerady be back and Jez was found so she can't have gone missing again so quick.
I finished the 2nd book a few months ago. It was AMAZING!!! i liked it alot. i think i really like these series because i can relate to them cause i was there when animal kingdom opened and have been there 11 times... (every year since i was 2) i can just see what you are decribing in the book!!
I think you should really think about writing another KK book!!!

kk 1 was every thing ive ever hoped for in a book i just finished reading it im a huge disney buff i go 16 times a year cus i have season passes even though i live 8 hours away im 18 and still love it i know everything about the place i cant wait for kk2 i am so excited to read it please make a movie or more and if u do make a movie i can act lol

My mom and I love the books, and we love the idea of a book for each park! Are Mickey and Minnie going to play a part in any of the books, because they are the most popular disney characters?
I love you! You are sent from God up above! I was thinking that maybe if you could pssibly write another book. KK3, could be at Epcot because now they have the Kim Possible missions. So the kids go there and do a mission and then they can do a mission and then when they are done they end up seeing that the story ends up being real.
Or for one at MGM ( even though nobody calls it that)they are chased by Maleficent and the DHIs are almost being banned from the parks because since it hit the front page in the last book, they then are caught and Chernabog is now dead so Maleficent is sad and hopeless so this time she really is defeated.
I love your books. i guess because im like a disney freak. im so excited that another one is coming out :) they should make movies. you rock.:)

When is KK3 coming out, Ridley? I just finished KK2. It's one of the best books I've ever read. Do those tips about getting into VMK actually work? I know it sounds babyish, but I can't stand it without VMK to play on.

I finished playing a cool Disney game called ''Kingdom Hearts'' and ever since I've read Kingdom Keepers, I have spotted a few similarities between the two.
Omg Ridley I <3 your books I love Disney World more than anyone I collect pins and read Walt Disney World for Kids its reviews of the parks and rides it has reviews where to find hidden Mickey trivia and games. The point is I love Disney World ask any one. So please make a third book and a cool Idea is you should make it a movie.
