Holy cow that is one long line. Lucky kids.
Oh, and I have a funny story to tell you:
Yesterday, we went "Hotel Hopping" at Disney; we looked around the more luxurious hotels. We were walking back towards the Contemporary after riding the boat over from Wilderness Lodge (very nice hotel), and a woman who is rushing to the dock is calling to a boy she's with, and she says "Come on, Finn."
What's really creepy is that "Finn" had green eyes.
I feel like such disloyal fan. I have yet to be able to read Steel Trapp. Time to check the library. At least I have a copy of KK2 reserved.
That's a great story. If you're at the park, take a ride on Splash Mountain, and if you're lucky, you'll spot a guy working there with white hair and wearing the name badge: Wayne. And guess what?
That's HIM.
Ridley
I was going to try and look for him when I was at the Magic Kingdom for my field trip but we ran out of time.
I did scream "Save Maybeck!" when we were in Space Mountain while riding Tomorrowland Transit Authority, however.
And I got to meet Minna Mouse (she's posted here a few times, we're both obsessed with KK).
I need to read Steel Trapp too, it looks interesting! :)
Yep! catherine met me at MK. And I hope to find her again!
And I neeeeed to find Wayne as well! XD
cat's right, I am obsessed too...@_@
Oh! Ridley, I would like to see you again when you come to Orlando, where will you be?
I am intrigued how Steel Trapp has a lot of things in common with Peter and TKK. Steel=Peter/Finn. Kaleigh=(Molly-Starcatcher). Miss Kay=Miss Bumbrake. Train=The Neverland. Also, I noticed how you actually write from the point of views of the antagonists in Steel Trapp and Peter (Grym, Hook,) but you didn't write from any of the Overtakers' point of views, or anyone but Finn for that matter.
OMG, seriously? Tell the truth, Ridley. Did you find him before or after you wrote it? Also, wasn't Wayne an Imagineer not a Cast Member?
I think it was before.
Ridley listed a Wayne who worked @ Splash Mountain in the acknowledgments.
Great Hale, now you're making me feel like an outsider. Well this is just more motivation to remind my mom to pick it up form the library for me.
Minna Mouse:
I hope to be at some schools in Orlando in October. Dave Barry and I will be doing a Disney autographing of Science Fair at the park mid November. I'll post the dates on the web site
Wayne IN REAL LIFE is a cast member!
No way? Now I have to go to Disney! I've never been to Disney World, or Disney Land, but I get to go (to DL) in May for National Junior Honor Society for a school field trip.
Ridley, do you model a lot of your characters in your books off of people in real life? Because there is Wayne, and then there is Walt Fleming, who (if I'm not mistaken) you said was modeled after Walt Femling.
Also...Steel Trapp seems like Cut and Run to me a bit...are they somehow linked together?
On a last note, I got my book published!!! I know you probably get a million of these "requests" or "invitations" or however you want to put it, to buy people's books, but this isn't one of them. I just want to let you know that this book was inspired by you, along with a few other authors, and I'm not asking you to read it or anything, but I want you to know you inspired it. It is called "Raining Jane" and (for anyone reading this who wants to check it out ;)_) you can find it at www.stores.lulu.com/nikolas_a_costello, or by going to www.lulu.com and searching for "Nikolas Costello" or "Raining Jane". (Note: the links tend to not work UNLESS you type them in your browser, so don't copy and paste...also, this book isn't a children's book or Young Adult book, it is and ADULT book--there is lots of violence)
Got it! I'll check once in a while. Thank you very much Ridley! :)
Congrats, captain Nik!
Way to go!
Ridley
Ridley,
I'm a little confused. I'm going to the Poisoned Pen signing, but I don't know what time it is at. www.poisonedpen.com says that the appearance is at 2:00 P.M. but your website says it is at 3:00 P.M. What time is the right one?
Thanks,
Nik.
I staerted reading Steel Trapp today.
I had two "WHOAH!" moments when reading it.
First, Kaileigh's decription (most specifically the unashamed geekiness and appearance), and the second review on the back.
I find it pretty darn awesome when one of my favorite authors is reviewed by another one of my favorite authors.
Hi Ridley,
I saw your review on Stephenie Meyer's new book The Host, very cool.
I also wanted to get your opinion about a new series coming out and whether or not you think it's a bit gimmicky. It's a global mystery and readers/players can win up to $100,000. When the book is published readers will use the internet to gather information and decipher clues.A card game will also be intertwined into the whole thing.
There's going to be a reported 10 books, and each one will be written by a different author.
So Ridley what do you think?
Is this just a prize in a cereal box type of thing, or do you think more books will take this route of interactivity?
Maybe one day when we open up a Kingdom Keepers book a small hologram of yourself will appear on the page and say "Hi, I'm Ridley Pearson and Thank You for buying my book".
Hey everyone! I'm currentley in disney for a short spring vacation and I just met the one and only wayne at splash mountain!!! Can't type much more cuz I'm texting by means of blackberry but I couldn't wait to tell you! Go kingdom keepers! Ill see you at your next kk signing hopefully.
