DECEMBER 2006 NEWSLETTER

It has been an eventful fall, with lots of travel for PETER AND THE SHADOW THIEVES, some Rockbottom Remainders shows and some speaking engagements. We just heard this week that it's official: Peter and the Shadow Thieves helped the kids in the state of Florida set a new Guinness World Record (most people reading the same work at the same time). It was a thrill to have Shadow Thieves selected as the book they set the record with, the event(s) surrounding the record breaking were a lot of fun.

STEEL TRAP, a young readers crime thriller is finished and is slated for April 2008. I was disappointed to have to wait so long for publication, but Disney is putting a lot of effort behind the publication, so it's worth the wait.

Publicity and scheduling is beginning to warm up for the publication of KILLER WEEKEND, by Putnam, on July 10th. Interviews are starting, and we're in the early stages of tour planning. Putnam has done a great cover, I think, and we're going to post it on the adult side of the site for the next week. Then, by agreement, we're going to take it down for several months - so if you want to see it, head to the site in the next week.

The Blogs are a lot of fun, and I hope you'll come check them out and participate. It's not hard, and the more people engage, the more I promise to spend time there posting.

Nothing much to report on the film side. There's some interesting documentary television work going on, but it's premature to talk about anything.

We will be updating the Appearances page for 2007 shortly.

Dave Barry and I are very near the end of the third, and final, Starcatchers novel: Peter and the Secret of Rundoon. The interest in these books has been staggering and has kept both of us very busy as we continue our "day jobs." If you haven't caught Dave's real time comments about 24, on his blog, you should start the new season of the TV show with a computer in your lap. It's wildly funny and a crazy way to watch the Emmy award winning show.

I'm currently working on my next crime novel for Putnam, the second Kingdom Keepers novel, and the final Starcatchers with Dave. Happy Holidays to you all. Thanks for another wonderful year, and my one Christmas wish is to see more of you on the blogs.

See you on the blog,

Ridley Pearson
