JANUARY 2005 NEWSLETTER

This past week, DAVE BARRY and I started the next Starcatchers novel, tentatively titled, Peter and the Shadowthieves. We're having a great time writing it. We "owe" Disney Books this Peter/Molly book as well as two smaller novels that will take place on Neverland and may or may not involve Peter. The first is about the Mermaids.

The tour for CUT AND RUN continues to grow (check the Appearances page) and the buzz to build. The book has gotten some generous reviews from BOOK PASSAGE, THIRD PLACE BOOKS, POISONED PEN BOOKSTORE and others.

I'm just about finished the third major rewrite of STONECUTTER'S QUILL, a fantasy adventure novel for young adults set inside Disney World. Look for it late in 2005. Five kids try to save the park (and the world outside the park) from anarchy--the catch: the kids are holograms serving as Disney Hosts inside the park.

With an insane February coming up (sign up for the Disney Cruise anyone?) an incredibly busy March and April because of BODY OF DAVID HAYES in paperback and CUT AND RUN in hardcover, January is devoted to solid writing and continuing work on Stonecutter's and the next Ridley (for 2006).

There's a rumor that Lion's Gate television is interested in The Culture, originally created for Showtime. More on that if I hear anything.

Movie negotiations for Peter and the Starcatchers continue but who knows? You'll be the first to hear if can settle on an agreement.

Jan 23rd: Look for Mick Garris' direction of RIDING THE BULLET on USA Network. Jan 30: Look for JB Rogers direction of the Arnold-for-Governor docu-drama on A&E.

Enjoy the NFL playoffs (go St Louis!) and the Golden Globes!
