JANUARY 2006 NEWSLETTER The new year brings with it new projects, all of them challenging. Dave (Barry) and I are preparing for July's release of PETER AND THE SHADOWTHIEVES (Disney Books), and September's release of ESCAPE FROM THE CARNIVALE. We'll be touring the second half of July, and early October. The schedule(s) will soon be posted in APPEARANCES. Disney Animation is up and flying for the feature animation production of PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS. (Pun intended.) THE KINGDOM KEEPERS is being looked as a possible TV movie. More on that if anything develops. I've had more mail (and email) on this book than any book I've written. I'm hoping Disney asks for a sequel. I've contracted with Disney to write a Young Adult "thriller" featuring US Marshal Roland Larson (Cut and Run) and a 14 year old boy. This will be a very "adult" YA novel, and I'm looking forward to an edgy read that adults will enjoy as well. I'm writing like mad on my next crime novel (a new series character) to be published by Putnam in Feb 2007. I won't give much away except to say, for those paying attention, that it involves my past and my present, and is possibly the most fun I've had writing a book (on my own). Equinoxe Films continues to make signs that THE CULTURE (my episodic television series about big pharma) will indeed be shot and make the little screen. We'll see. "Stay tuned." I'm increasingly confident this is going to happen, and it's with a great company. It would be a wild ride. The Holland America cruise (New Zealand/Australia) sold out.
