JUNE 2005 NEWSLETTER CUT AND RUN continues to be seen in airports and in bookstore displays. Thanks for the e-mails telling us about all the places the big displays have been spotted. The working cover for THE KINGDOM KEEPERS is in, and it's terrific! The book tour for The Kingdom Keepers (Disney Editions, September 2005) is now in the planning stages. Rumor is it will include New York, Chicago, Minnesota, Corte Madera (CA), Phoenix, Miami, St. Louis, and Vero Beach. Dave Barry and I continue to press on with more Peter and The Starcatcher books. The first "chapter book," THE MISSING MERMAID is complete and scheduled for publication May 2006. We are currently writing THE CAVE OF THE DARK WIND, a second chapter book, as well as PETER AND THE SHADOWTHIEVES (Sept 2006), the follow-up to Starcatchers that sends Peter to London in search of his friend Molly. DISNEY ANIMATION has bought the film rights to Peter and the Starcatchers, and intends to produce a 3-D CGI animation for theatrical release, possibly in 2007. CONTRATULATIONS to Brilliance Audio and actor Jim Dale. Peter and the Starcatchers won two Audie Awards (best audio book) in the categories, Children's Books 8+up; and best male reader (Jim Dale). Starcatchers has also been awarded best children's book of the year by SEBA (Southeast Booksellers Association). June marks the publication of Murder Is My Racquet (edited by Otto Penzler) in which I've published a short story, Close Shave. It's available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or an independent bookstore. More appearances this summer.
