JULY/AUGUST 2003 NEWSLETTER

This summer is too hot. What happened?

I spend my days up early and writing, so that I can join the kids in the pool by late afternoon. I'm working on several projects concurrently, including the next novel, two young adult novels and a 1 hour documentary for Animal Planet.

In late June I spent several days at the UTAH SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL and found it incredibly inspiring. The Bard is like no other!

There is "action" on several FILM FRONTS and I will keep the site readers appraised. Most of the talk surrounds the possibility of 2 different 2 hour television movies, one based on Boldt, one on a treatment (the plot of a proposed book that was not picked up). We are also very involved with FIREWORKS television, who are trying to put a production team around an episodic series idea for network television. (Writer Kitty McCue helped create that one with me!)

I had a TERRIFIC time at Book Passage's Mystery Writers Conference with Jan Burke, Harlan Coben, Martin Cruz Smith and others. Looking forward to the Sun Valley Conference later in August.

The St. Louis office was "hit" by lightning (we took a major power surge, basically) knocking out computers, phones, you name it. That's why the newsletter was not emailed this month!

DAVE BARRY and I are co-writing a novel together and it's the most fun I've had in years. We hope to deliver it in the Fall, and when we do I'll post all sorts of news about it.

Meanwhile, it's back to WRITING!!!

Cheers,

Ridley Pearson
