SEPTEMBER 2002 NEWSLETTER A little late this month; sorry! I will be READING/DISCUSSING Art Of Deception at Left Bank Books, in St. Louis, MO, September 17th at 7 PM. Hope to see new faces! Part of the delay in getting this out: I spent Wednesday Sept. 4th in Burbank with producer Mark Carliner for the Stephen King production of THE DIARY OF ELLEN RIMBAUER. Mark and I met with Quinn Taylor and Greg Shephard of ABC TV to discuss the script and the project. All seems on track! We'll know much more about the project by the end of the month. Dave Barry and Mitch Albom and I spent time together at the Sun Valley Writers Conference, late August, and even played some music as a partial Rockbottom Remainders. ART OF DECEPTION is in bookstores everywhere. Thanks to everyone for supporting the book so strongly. The Today Show went really well and got the book off to a great start. No decision as of yet on when The Body Of David Hayes will be published next year. We expect a summer book. Other film news: we continue to see strong interest in the Boldt series, both from producers, writers and actors. Nothing concrete however as of this writing. I have a reading next month (Oct. 12th) in Washington, DC for the National Book Festival sponsored by the Library Of Congress. Dinner with President Bush, and breakfast with Laura Bush. Should be interesting. Favorite speaker of the month: David McCullough at the SVWC. Best writer's talk I've heard, maybe ever. Favorite book: Dave Barry's second novel, Tricky Business. Howled through it! Favorite movies: Enigma, Possession, Charlotte Gray. Wow! If you haven't seen these, you must! See you next month. Again, thanks for the support.
