SEPTEMBER 2004 NEWSLETTER Dear Reader: It's here: Dave Barry and I have co-written a prequel to Peter Pan called PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS, published by Disney Editions. This is a book children 8 and up and ALL ADULTS will love. I promise. And the "package" -- the book design, illustrations by Greg Call, endpapers, etc -- is one of the most beautiful you'll ever see. This book feels like a classic before you ever open it. Inside, you'll take a swashbuckling sail through storm-ridden pirate waters that culminates on a lost island, and the battle over a sacred treasure. Find out how Peter met Captain Hook, where mermaids come from and how Tinkerbell was created! The 400 page novel (18 illustrations) is already in it's second (huge!) printing -- so get to the stores while first editions are available. The book lands in all stores today, Monday, August 30th. Dave Barry and I will tour the country for Peter and The Starcatchers, kicking off in Miami, the 11th of September, the TODAY SHOW, Tues Sept 14, and over a dozen more cities: see the appearances page of the website. I will also be attending the Southern Festival of Books, Bouchercon, and more. And check this out: the Peter and the Starcatchers website! It's a great site and gives you insight into the book, the audio book, Dave and me and more. The audio book (Brilliance Audio) is read by none other than the voice of Harry Potter (on audio), Jim Dale. It's another award-winning performance by this amazing actor/reader. You'll be spellbound. Dave and I met again this summer and outlined the 2nd Peter novel, for publication 2006. In the meantime, I've completed The Stonecutter's Quill, another young adult novel, slated for September 2005. It features five kids, all employees at Disney World (holographic hosts) who are picked to save the theme park from dark forces who have begun to take over. Cut And Run, my next "Ridley thriller" is to be published in April of 2005. Hyperion, the publisher, is excited by the fast-paced stand-alone pursuit thriller that involves WITSEC (witness protection). OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER find the Rockbottom Remainders in St. Louis, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit and Miami. Tickets available for all shows by September 9th. See the appearances page of the website for details. Enjoy Peter and the Starcatchers. I hope to see you while out on tour with Dave.
PS: STILL no word on the air date for Wild Justice on Animal Planet, but I've seen a rough cut and it's fantastic! I'll keep you posted. RP Previous newsletters, click here! |
